The Poker Run & Pig Roast for Cystic Fibrosis in Memory of Jenn Wing2006 SlideshowMay 2004 was the first year this event took place. It started, as most things do, with a simple idea to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis in memory of Jenn Wing who succumbed to the disease. Jenn’s dad, Ron Geary, is the customer service manager at Dartmouth Building Supply. For a first-time ever event, it was quite successful raising over $12,000. “We didn’t advertise at all. We just placed flyers in as many places as we could. My boss, Joe Delgado, gave us the use of the facilities and with the help of friends, family and businesses like Dartmouth Building Supply and Honey Dew Donuts, it took off beyond my wildest dreams!”
The Second Annual DBS Poker Run & Pig Roast was an even bigger success raising twice as much for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It seems, Poker Runs, once relegated to motorcycle clubs, have become one of America’s fastest growing fundraiser events. America seems to be infected with the upsurge in anything related to motorcycles as evidenced by the increase cable television programming. In fact, the 2005 run was promoted by and taped for NESN’s THE RIDE www.theride.tv television show. Click here to see the show. Poker Run & Pig Roast Photo Album
